The company was the market leader in supplying schools and museums with educational anatomy models, and mounted skeletons. This particularly fine example is mounted on an ebonised wood display stand, complete with company’s trade label, but what is nice it that it comes in its original bespoke made storage box. Circa late 1960’s.

Edward Gerrard & Sons was a famous family London-based taxidermy and natural history business established in 1853. The grandson Thomas Edward Gerrard split from the main family business to establish T Gerrard & Co in the 1930s, a dedicated osteology and scientific model-making company. The firm operated for decades from Pentonville Road, London, later moving to East Preston, Sussex in 1966, later merging with L Haig & Co in 1970. The firm was eventually acquired by Griffin & George in 1978.
