The following extract is from Christopher Frost’s original sales flyer that he produced to market this book:
This is the first book of its kind on this subject, in which the author attempts to provide an insight into the historic and artistic importance of the taxidermist’s work, encouraging it therefore to be collected and preserved for future generations. He would like to feel that his book brings those few great Victorian naturalists and taxidermists some of the recognition they surely deserve, but which they rarely received during their lifetimes, and helps to make those members of the public who are interested in taxidermy aware of the great work that was done in that field during the latter part of the last century.
