Taxidermy- Pair of Starlings by P Spicer of Leamington Spa. Circa 1875

£ 1400

An unusual albino starling and one other, set amongst attractive groundwork under its original glass dome and ebonsied base. With the remains of his small brown oval trade label pasted to the underside, this is an early example of Peter Spicer’s trade label (before the company became Peter Spicer & Sons) and predates his more common small green trade label, accurately dating this case to just a few years between 1871-1876.

Height 41cm

Ref: 24460
